Tekura Hinokage Sacred Straw Ornaments by Wara-Zaiku Takubo

July 1st | 5PM-7PM

An introduction to the traditional Japanese craft of wara-zaiku, the art of working with rice straw, deeply rooted in rural life and spiritual practice.

Originating from Hinokage, this workshop is presented by Wara-zaiku Takubo and led by master artisan Yoichiro Kai, whose work preserves and reinterprets ancestral techniques used to create sacred ornaments.

Through a pre-recorded session, participants will be guided into this meticulous and meditative process, discovering the symbolism, gestures, and cultural significance behind each form.

The experience is accompanied by a curated display of handcrafted pieces, offering a rare opportunity to encounter this delicate practice up close — where material, tradition, and meaning are intricately woven together.

Free admission with reservation required. Food and drinks will be charged according to consumption. To book, please contact us at info@portoartsclub.com.
